View from the Roof

Tonight the moon shapes
a whole delicious orange
which I will peel
and ribbon the skin
around my neck

I will slice it into halves and
quarters, then scatter the pulp
across the cloudless midnight sky
and watch the yellow flow
spill on the step of dawn
